With strong heritage as a British designer and manufacturer of office furniture, Staverton couldn’t be more delighted to support the Made in Britain campaign.

By enabling customers to identify British made products, the Made in Britain marque supports & promotes British manufacturing in the UK and overseas.

The Made in Britain marque is managed by a committee made up of MDs and CEOs of UK manufacturing companies as well as other supporters of British manufacturing. Staverton CL has been selected for Auto Trader’s new flagship Manchester office.

We’re delighted to be taking part in this year’s Clerkenwell Design Week and this time, we’re opening the doors of our very own shoowroom at 70 St John Street (just a few minutes from the Farmiloe Building).

We’ll be exhibiting a range of office desks, screens and storage products (all of which have been developed to meet clients’ very specific furniture challenges) as the perfect demonstration of our bespoke furniture design and manufacturing expertise.

On Tuesday 20th and Wednesday 21st May we will also be hosting informal talks about the changing relationship between technology and office furniture and how designers and manufacturers are responding.

Staverton CL Parks Up at Auto Trader

Staverton CL has been selected for Auto Trader’s new flagship Manchester office.

More than 500 desks will be installed in the 60,000 sq ft office at Ask Development’s First Street scheme and will support the company in its bid for a more open and collaborative working style.

Claremont Group Interiors has been appointed to provide all aspects of the interior design and fit-out including furniture and audio-visual solutions.  The interior design concept also includes four cars and two vans, selected by Auto Trader employees, which will be craned in to the office and provide creative and collaborative work spaces.

Installation of the bench desks will support a phased occupation by Auto Trader’s team, with the whole 600 strong workforce in place by the end of June 2014.

Staverton CL offers a range of benefits to users, namely large working spaces, as well as to Auto Trader’s facilities management and IT teams.  The bench desk removes the need for specialist electrical installation as all power issues are dealt with above the floor. A leg-mounted PDU delivers power for up to ten desks and a simple ‘plug in’ design, promotes easy installation and greater flexibility.   Sliding tops, vertical risers, and hinged containment trays allow service teams to maintain a safe yet accessible power distribution system. CL is individually height settable, achieved through the use of stackable spacers.

Staverton CL Installation Complete at The Co-op

Staverton’s award-winning CL bench has been installed in The Co-operative Group’s new Manchester head office, 1 Angel Square.

Staverton CL was developed in collaboration with The Co-operative Group and specifically for the new 14-storey building, which was designed by 3D Reid.   After a four month installation programme all 2,800 employees will now use Staverton CL.

The bench’s leg mounted power distribution unit powers up to 10 desks from just one 32 amp feed and its simple ‘plug in’ design guarantees easy installation and greater flexibility.  Having worked closely with The Co-operative Group from the outset, Staverton’s design was able to deliver a six figure saving from reduced installation costs.

The bench’s clean lines protect the building’s strong design aesthetic and its versatility supports The Co-op’s activity-focused open plan approach.

Craig Lambert, facilities manager at The Co-operative Group said: “Our challenge was to find a bench solution that could offer integrated power and data, protect the design aesthetic in our new head office and create flexible working spaces.   Staverton CL achieves this and surpasses everything else on the market.”

Staverton CL was commended at the 2012 BIFM Awards and has also been awarded a Design Guild Mark and the Design Prima award.

Logic Office Group becomes Staverton UK Ltd

Logic Office Group, a long established office furniture and fit-out specialist, is to be renamed Staverton (UK) Ltd.

Staverton UK will focus primarily on furniture manufacturing and supply, building on its already established and award-winning office furniture brand of the same name.

Mike Gardner, continues as managing director of Staverton (UK) Ltd.  He said: “This change allows us to focus on building our furniture business into a major player in the industry. Both Logic and Staverton have had a strong presence in the office furniture industry for over 25 years and now is the time to consolidate our business under a single identity.”

“The creation of Staverton (UK) Ltd allows us to leverage the Staverton brand, which has gained significant profile following securing a number of major contracts including The Co-operative Group’s new headquarters, and concentrate on our UK manufacturing operation, which gives us a real point of difference in the market. “

The change sees the business leave their base in Hounslow, Middlesex. Staverton (UK) Ltd will continue to operate from its 35,000 sq ft factory in Rotherham, South Yorkshire with offices in Clerkenwell central London and Westerham Kent.

Staverton to deliver its next slice of Clever Thinking in Practice

Following their success at Clerkenwell Design Week, Staverton and Zip UK are set to co-host their next Clever Thinking in Practice seminar for London’s architect and design community.

The event will begin at 4.30pm on Thursday 1st November 2012, at the Staverton & Zip UK Showroom, Clover House, 147-149 Farringdon Road, London, EC1R 3HN.

An informal drinks reception will be followed by an interactive seminar presented by Dr Jenny Thomas and Patrick McCrae, who will discuss the benefits of art in the workplace. We will discover how art can develop, influence and inspire staff, encourage loyalty and even contribute to CSR objectives.

Dr Jenny Thomas is the Director of Performance Consultancy, a company specialising in evidence based design and post-occupancy evaluation. Her doctoral research focused on evaluating the impact of the workplace environment and how to create a stimulating environment for employees. She now works across commercial, education and healthcare sectors.  Patrick McCrae is the Director of Works in Print, an office art company. Established in 2009, WiP has the vision to provide a rented changing collection of art to occupiers while giving artists an almost unprecedented ‘paid-for’ exhibition.

Staverton CL is a BIFM awards finalist for Innovation in Products 2012

We are pleased to announce that Staverton is a BIFM awards finalist under the category of Innovation in Products 2012. The CL bench was highly commended by the BIFM judging panel. The clever bench has been designed in collaboration with The Co-operative Group, specifically for its new 400,000 sq ft, BREEAM outstanding head office building in Manchester.

The glittering BIFM Awards celebration saw Staverton and other companies get recognition for being at the forefront of the FM industry against the very best competition.

Weightmans’ Liverpool office rules in favour of Staverton ZD

Award winning legal services firm, Weightmans, has embraced a relocation project to bring together two separate offices in Liverpool. In an effort to maximise productivity and reduce occupancy costs, the firm decided to move its 550 staff to a single 95,000 sqft office located at The Plaza, 100 Old Hall Street.

Staverton’s 120 degree ZD furniture solution was decided favourite as it creates an open plan office, whilst also providing the necessary privacy for individuals.

With Weightmans’ new clear desk policy, a storage solution was implemented alongside the ZD product. Each staff member has a pedestal, storage tower and centralised rolling storage to maximise the daylight within the office. Staverton’s ZD  solution successfully compliments the modern and professional workspace created for Weightmans by Claremont Group Interiors Ltd.

David Lewis, Head of Weightmans’ Liverpool office said: “This office isn’t just about giving us a new working environment; it’s also about cultural integration as we bring together our teams from India Buildings and Dury House.”

Seven week countdown to Staverton CL installation at The Co-operative Group

British manufacturer, Staverton, will install 2800 CL benches for The Co-operative Group’s new head office in Manchester in just seven weeks’ time.

The win, which was announced earlier this year, is thought to be the largest furniture contract in the UK in 2012.

Staverton’s Rotherham factory is already in full production, ready for installation at the end of July.

The contract was secured after a period of collaborative design with The Co-operative Group and involved a six week turnaround from the initial brief to delivery of a proto-type.  The result is the new Staverton CL bench.  Concealing power and data resources within its core structure, the Staverton CL bench reduces IT and power installation costs during fit-out and throughout its life.

Tony Cole, design and manufacturing director for Staverton said: “This contract doesn’t simply recognise Staverton CL as a bench, it also acknowledges the way we approach clients’ briefs, really taking the time to understand and meet their specific needs. We were advised this was a real point of difference for us and are delighted with the outcome.  The factory is now very busy processing the order.”

Talking about the CL bench, Tony added: “By dealing with cabling and power in a creative manner we’ve designed a clever benching solution which ticks all the boxes for facilities managers, IT departments and most importantly, the employees.  The CL bench doesn’t compromise functionality or form.”

Staverton & Zip Launch Clever Thinking in Practice

Staverton, and showroom partner Zip UK, have launched Clever Thinking in Practice, a new social seminar programme for the architect and design community.

Designed to bring small and medium sized practices together, the first event will take place as part of Clerkenwell Design Week (22-24 May) and see Peter Hopkins of Clifford Tee & Gale explain the latest developments to Revit.  The 40 minute discussion will be followed by drinks and networking.
