Staverton CL Installation Complete at The Co-op

Staverton’s award-winning CL bench has been installed in The Co-operative Group’s new Manchester head office, 1 Angel Square.

Staverton CL was developed in collaboration with The Co-operative Group and specifically for the new 14-storey building, which was designed by 3D Reid.   After a four month installation programme all 2,800 employees will now use Staverton CL.

The bench’s leg mounted power distribution unit powers up to 10 desks from just one 32 amp feed and its simple ‘plug in’ design guarantees easy installation and greater flexibility.  Having worked closely with The Co-operative Group from the outset, Staverton’s design was able to deliver a six figure saving from reduced installation costs.

The bench’s clean lines protect the building’s strong design aesthetic and its versatility supports The Co-op’s activity-focused open plan approach.

Craig Lambert, facilities manager at The Co-operative Group said: “Our challenge was to find a bench solution that could offer integrated power and data, protect the design aesthetic in our new head office and create flexible working spaces.   Staverton CL achieves this and surpasses everything else on the market.”

Staverton CL was commended at the 2012 BIFM Awards and has also been awarded a Design Guild Mark and the Design Prima award.

Three new faces join the Staverton team

Staverton, the British manufacturer of contemporary office furniture, has recruited three new faces to its business development team.

Tom Neely (23), Hugh Bunce (25) and Beckie Fenner-Evans (24) join Staverton as part of the company’s new graduate programme, and will work across the organisation to progress their business development and account management skills.

Tom graduated from the University of Hull in 2012 with a degree in Law with Spanish and will work from Staverton’s manufacturing facility in Rotherham, South Yorkshire.

Hugh graduated from the University of Loughborough in 2010 with a degree in International Relations and spent two years working in financial services before joining Staverton. Hugh is based in Westerham and will work across the south of England.

Beckie takes responsibility for developing relationships with London’s architect and design community and is based in Staverton’s Clerkenwell office. Beckie graduated from Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh.

Logic Office Group becomes Staverton UK Ltd

Logic Office Group, a long established office furniture and fit-out specialist, is to be renamed Staverton (UK) Ltd.

Staverton UK will focus primarily on furniture manufacturing and supply, building on its already established and award-winning office furniture brand of the same name.

Mike Gardner, continues as managing director of Staverton (UK) Ltd.  He said: “This change allows us to focus on building our furniture business into a major player in the industry. Both Logic and Staverton have had a strong presence in the office furniture industry for over 25 years and now is the time to consolidate our business under a single identity.”

“The creation of Staverton (UK) Ltd allows us to leverage the Staverton brand, which has gained significant profile following securing a number of major contracts including The Co-operative Group’s new headquarters, and concentrate on our UK manufacturing operation, which gives us a real point of difference in the market. “

The change sees the business leave their base in Hounslow, Middlesex. Staverton (UK) Ltd will continue to operate from its 35,000 sq ft factory in Rotherham, South Yorkshire with offices in Clerkenwell central London and Westerham Kent.

Staverton to deliver its next slice of Clever Thinking in Practice

Following their success at Clerkenwell Design Week, Staverton and Zip UK are set to co-host their next Clever Thinking in Practice seminar for London’s architect and design community.

The event will begin at 4.30pm on Thursday 1st November 2012, at the Staverton & Zip UK Showroom, Clover House, 147-149 Farringdon Road, London, EC1R 3HN.

An informal drinks reception will be followed by an interactive seminar presented by Dr Jenny Thomas and Patrick McCrae, who will discuss the benefits of art in the workplace. We will discover how art can develop, influence and inspire staff, encourage loyalty and even contribute to CSR objectives.

Dr Jenny Thomas is the Director of Performance Consultancy, a company specialising in evidence based design and post-occupancy evaluation. Her doctoral research focused on evaluating the impact of the workplace environment and how to create a stimulating environment for employees. She now works across commercial, education and healthcare sectors.  Patrick McCrae is the Director of Works in Print, an office art company. Established in 2009, WiP has the vision to provide a rented changing collection of art to occupiers while giving artists an almost unprecedented ‘paid-for’ exhibition.
